South Carolina GOP Backs Continued COVID-Style Tyranny
The COVID-19 pandemic saw draconian lockdowns and dystopian restrictions on business, leisure and virtually all activity. South Carolina, whose legislature is dominated by Republicans, is doing nothing to prevent a repeat of such abuses.
In fact, a pair of alarming GOP-backed bills would create a new Executive Office of Health and Policy that would override the authority of sheriffs and police. It would be headed by a health czar who would not be accountable to the Governor.
The House version of the bill, H. 4927, states:
“All sheriffs and constables in the several counties of this State and police officers and health officers of cities and towns must aid and assist the Director of the Department of Public Health and Environmental Control and must carry out and obey his orders…”
The bill is 70 pages long, which indicates a worrying amount of bureaucracy. Indeed, the bill and its Senate companion S. 915 consolidate the powers of no fewer than four current state agencies into the new South Carolina superpower department.
Republicans are moving in the wrong direction. Conservatives count on the GOP to represent freedom and personal liberties. They should strive to prevent a reprise of the more than two years of abusive and destructive government behavior that destroyed lives, economies and businesses.
The House bill not only passed — but at 91-18 it wasn’t even close.
The reasons behind this bad legislation come into focus when it is revealed who wrote the ponderous bill. The South Carolina GOP paid the Boston Consulting Group more than $3 million to do so. They have partnered with dystopic enemies of freedom such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization, and the infamous Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
This suggests that the bill is part of a larger and more coordinated effort to establish this sort of authority nationwide.
South Carolina Republicans, like their former Governor Nikki Haley, appear to be of the “establishment” variety. The current GOP governor Henry McMaster has stated he will sign the final combined bill into law.
Driven by a globalist-influenced new government, South Carolina can look forward to more forced vaccinations and lockdowns — courtesy of a Republican supermajority.
